Moab by Starlight – Custom New Era Hat Design
This custom New Era fitted hat was born from a solo adventure that left a lasting mark on me. While traveling through Utah, I made a spontaneous decision to visit Delicate Arch in Moab just as the sun began to set. I reached the trailhead with only a sliver of daylight left and hiked quickly, arriving at the iconic arch moments before nightfall. As the last rays disappeared, the sky unveiled an unforgettable scene—millions of stars scattered above the desert landscape. It was awe-inspiring, and I knew I had to capture that moment somehow.
This project was more than just a creative outlet—it was deeply personal. I’ve been a longtime collector of New Era fitted hats, especially limited-edition designs. Before my father passed away, we had begun talking about creating a hat together. He, like many dads, had plenty of ideas—suggesting ways to cut costs and increase profit. But for me, the goal wasn’t about margins. It was about creating something meaningful and sharing a powerful experience.
After his passing, I brought this vision to life as a tribute to both that unforgettable night in Moab and to the creative conversations I shared with my dad. It became a personal mission to finish what we started.
The hat design features an embroidered, postage stamp–style patch showcasing Delicate Arch under a starry night sky. Glow-in-the-dark thread brings the stars to life, keeping the memory vivid—even in the dark.
To elevate the experience for those who supported the project, I included a custom-designed lapel pin in the shape of an arrowhead, featuring the outline of Utah and the words National Parks—a nod to the adventurous spirit this project represents. I also created matching stickers of both the hat design and the lapel pin as collectible keepsakes and a thank-you to every supporter.
